The Clearfield Bison will challenge the Huntingdon Bearcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Clearfield and Bradford, and Clearfield kept the tradition alive. The Bison put the hurt on the Owls with a sharp 10-3 win on Wednesday.
Clearfield got a big performance out of Kam Kushner, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Landon Brady was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Huntingdon nor Bishop Guilfoyle made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Bearcats' pitchers stepped up to hand the Marauders a 7-0 shutout.
Connor Moore made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Moore was also big at the plate, earning one run and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other pitching news, Eric Mykut looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
Back at the plate, Brock Bryson and Ethan Reck did most of the damage at the plate: Bryson went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Reck went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Reck a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Huntingdon's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Clearfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season.
Clearfield came out on top in a nail-biter against Huntingdon when the teams last played back in May of 2023, sneaking past 6-5. Will the Bison repeat their success, or do the Bearcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
