Southampton Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Southampton Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Amelia Academy with a sharp 39-15 victory. The victory was just what Southampton Academy needed coming off of a 38-15 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot was able to grind out a solid victory over the Falcons on Friday, taking the game 36-25. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot.
Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot found their leader in underclassman Avery Poore, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Poore has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Hickey, who scored five points along with two steals.
The victory got Southampton Academy back to even at 6-6. As for Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
Southampton Academy beat the Knights 35-28 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southampton Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
