The Vista PEAK Prep Bison waltzed into their game Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They walked away with a 46-39 win over Skyview. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Vista PEAK Prep also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Vista PEAK Prep found their leader in underclassman Knakai Starks, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and six blocks. That makes it four consecutive games in which Starks has scored at least 25% of Vista PEAK Prep's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eianna Jackson, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Skyview lost, one person who can't be blamed is Yzabella Tafoya. Despite the final result, she scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Tafoya scored 15 or more points. Leila Estrada was another key contributor, scoring five points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Vista PEAK Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Skyview, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vista PEAK Prep will take on Eaglecrest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Skyview, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Aurora Central at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Aurora Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday.
