Resurrection Christian is a perfect 9-0 against Strasburg since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cougars will host the Indians at 4:00 p.m. Resurrection Christian will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Resurrection Christian gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over Weld Central.
Braedyn Budd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits.
On the hitting side, Maddox Sessions was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Strasburg ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Weld Central. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since April 26, 2024.
Jared Flamini was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Strasburg: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three hits, but 2-4 otherwise. Flamini was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Erik Alamillo, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Resurrection Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Strasburg, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Resurrection Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .451. However, it's not like Strasburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .434. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
