The Campbellsville Eagles will head out to challenge the Danville Admirals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Campbellsville 4, Danville 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Campbellsville's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Tuesday, when they got past Breckinridge County's usually-dominant pitching crew. Campbellsville blew past Breckinridge County 10-4. Considering the Eagles have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Jack Ellis was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Ellis was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Campbellsville got a great performance from Reece Swafford as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Carson Mills, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bryson Turpin, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Danville waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They skirted past the Warriors 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Admirals have posted against the Warriors since May 7, 2019.
Like Campbellsville, Danville also got a great game from a two-way player: Fox Spears. He didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. What's more, Spears gave up only three hits, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Spears wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Levi Doyle, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Danville's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Campbellsville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Campbellsville hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Danville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.4 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Campbellsville skirted past Danville 5-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Campbellsville since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
