Oxbow is a perfect 3-0 against Bellows Falls since June of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Olympians will look to defend their home field against the Terriers at 4:30 p.m. Oxbow will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Oxbow's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Lyndon Institute.
The result came thanks to Anastase Bourgeois's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Maisy Frydman was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Mazie Bourgeois was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Oxbow hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bellows Falls). They put the hurt on Woodstock with a sharp 23-1 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Terriers, who have now won seven matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Izzy Stoodley was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Stoodley was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Cadence James was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brielle Mulverhill, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
Oxbow pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 11.9 runs thus far. As for Bellows Falls, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.
Both Oxbow and Bellows Falls just can't seem to miss. The Olympians have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 12.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Bellows Falls struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Oxbow's way against Bellows Falls when the teams last played back in June of 2024, as Oxbow made off with a 37-2 victory. Do the Olympians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Terriers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
