The Columbus East Olympians's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a 50-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Silver Creek. While losing is never fun, Columbus East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Silver Creek is ranked 17th).
When it comes to explaining why Columbus East lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caroline Frost. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Frost has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Messiah Trapp, who scored seven points along with five steals.
Columbus East has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for Silver Creek, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-4.
Columbus East will head out on the road to take on Cathedral at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Cathedral focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for Silver Creek, they will square off against Floyd Central at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
