The Walhalla Razorbacks won the last time they faced the Pickens Blue Flame, and things went their way on Friday too. Walhalla came out on top against Pickens by a score of 57-49.
Leading Walhalla to victory were Ander Hunnicutt and Crews Richardson. Hunnicutt dropped a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Richardson scored 16 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Richardson has scored at least 25% of Walhalla's points. Another player making a difference was Witt Austin, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds.
Pickens' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lane Respass, who scored 10 points. Respass continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Ethan Medlin was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 7 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Pickens were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walhalla only pulled down seven.
Walhalla now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Pickens, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Walhalla and Southside Christian will face off at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Southside Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Friday. As for Pickens, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Joseph's Catholic at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph's Catholic will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
