Holtville is 9-0-1 against Calipatria since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Holtville Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Calipatria Hornets at 4:00 p.m. Holtville is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last ten games.
In what's become a running theme this season, Holtville gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They never let West Shores onto the board and left with a 8-0 victory. Juan Rodriguez was a massive factor in the win, as he booted in five goals all by himself.
Meanwhile, Calipatria came into Thursday's match having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They skirted past Julian 1-0. The win was just what Calipatria needed coming off of a 7-0 loss in their prior matchup.
Holtville pushed their record up to 17-4-5 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 40 goals over those eight matches. As for Calipatria, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-13.
Holtville took their victory against Calipatria in their previous matchup on Tuesday by a conclusive 7-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holtville since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
