The Tri-Valley Bulldogs put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They managed a 55-50 win over Minersville. Given Tri-Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Minersville is ranked 323rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Tri-Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Noah Porter led the charge by scoring 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Wehry, who scored 14 points.
Despite the loss, Minersville had strong showings from Dante Carr, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals, and Bradley Kostishak, who scored 18 points. The matchup was Carr's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brady Eisenhart, who scored six points.
Tri-Valley's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Minersville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
Tri-Valley will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Mahanoy Area at 7:30 p.m. on January 11th. Mahanoy Area will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. As for Minersville, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Neumann Regional Academy at 7:30 p.m.
