The Cibola Raiders will take on the Youngker Roughriders at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Cibola is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Cibola fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Kofa on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kings. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 8, 2022, but that streak is no more.
Rodrigo Orozco was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernando Camacho, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Youngker came tearing into Thursday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Hawks.
Luis Alvarez Rodriguez tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over six innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Daniel Rojas, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Isaac Valencia was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Youngker's win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Cibola, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Cibola has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Youngker struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
