It was a good run, but the Butte County Pirates unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of Camas County by a score of 59-56. Butte County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mushers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Butte County still got an impressive performance from Braxton Gamett, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Westergard, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
Emmett Palan continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Camas County, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 15 rebounds. Palan has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Troy Smith was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and six assists.
Butte County's loss dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Camas County, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-2.
Butte County will head out on the road to face off against the at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Idaho (Watersprings is ranked 66th, while the Pirates are ranked 44th). As for Camas County, they will be playing at home against the Pilots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Glenns Ferry is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
