Softball Recap: Sunlake Wins Going Away Against Wharton

After only one run in their last matchup, Sunlake made sure to put some runs up on the board against Wharton on Friday. The Seahawks blew past the Wildcats 13-3. Considering the Seahawks have won six games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Madison Siders looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February.

On the hitting side, Sunlake let Kaylee Lively and Emily Ward run wild. Lively went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Ward fired off three triples and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three triples gave Ward a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abigail Avant, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Sunlake was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wharton only posted a batting average of .240.

Sunlake's record is now 11-6. As for Wharton, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-9.

Sunlake wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-0 win against Land O' Lakes on the 8th. As for Wharton, they have also already played their next match, a 5-1 victory against Chamberlain on the 8th.
