The Frankenmuth Eagles will take on the Heritage Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Frankenmuth sitting on seven straight wins and Heritage on three.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Frankenmuth took on Freeland on Monday. The Eagles walked away with a 13-10 victory over the Falcons. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Chloe Compau made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up seven earned (and three unearned) runs off 13 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miranda Polley, who fired off two home runs and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Siena Bosco, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Frankenmuth hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Freeland struck out 15 times.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Heritage ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Mt. Pleasant 8-7.
Like Frankenmuth, Heritage also got a great game from a two-way player: Violet Brown. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Brown was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Brown wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kelsey Hales, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Another was Lillian Fowler, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Frankenmuth's win bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Heritage, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Frankenmuth hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Heritage struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Frankenmuth got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2016 against Heritage by a conclusive 13-4 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
