Baseball Recap: Monett Finds Home Field Redemption Against Hollister

There's no place like home for Monett, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They blew past the Hollister Tigers 8-2 on Monday. Considering the Cubs have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Miles Young, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aidan Clapper, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Monett pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hollister, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monett will welcome Seneca at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hollister, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Hollister Tigers duke it out with Forsyth Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forsyth will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Hollister surely won't give up without a fight.
