Basketball Game Preview: Humble Christian Cougars vs. Lake Houston HomeSchool Conquerors

The Humble Christian Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Lake Houston HomeSchool Conquerors at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Humble Christian is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Shady Acres Christian: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Humble Christian blew Shady Acres Christian out of the water with a 44-16 final score. That looming 44-16 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Cougars yet this season.

Humble Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lilly McMullen led the charge by as she made all 10 shots she took to post 20 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave McMullen a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Deriyah Williams, who posted seven points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Lake Houston HomeSchool's strategy against Founders Classical Academy back in December of 2024. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Lake Houston HomeSchool blew Founders Classical Academy out of the water with a 41-11 final score. With the Conquerors ahead 27-4 at the half, the game was all but over already.

The victory got Lake Houston HomeSchool back to even at 2-2. As for Humble Christian, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Humble Christian suffered a grim 45-20 defeat to Lake Houston HomeSchool in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Humble Christian was down 27-4.
