Basketball Game Preview: Discovery Canyon Thunder vs. Palmer Ridge Bears

The Discovery Canyon Thunder will face off against the Palmer Ridge Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Discovery Canyon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.3 points per game this season.

Discovery Canyon will head out to face Palmer Ridge after giving up their first home loss of the season on Thursday. Discovery Canyon fell to Lewis-Palmer 50-46. The game marked the Thunder's lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Discovery Canyon got top-tier performance from Hugh Tarpenning, who went 8 of 17 en route to 19 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. That's the most points Tarpenning has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Noah Eckels, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, Palmer Ridge entered their tilt with Pueblo South on Monday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They managed a 58-54 win over the Colts.

The victory got Palmer Ridge back to even at 8-8. As for Discovery Canyon, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-4.

Everything went Discovery Canyon's way against Palmer Ridge when the teams last played back in January, as Discovery Canyon made off with a 70-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Discovery Canyon since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
