Gettysburg is 0-1 against Northern York since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Gettysburg Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Northern York Polar Bears at 7:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Gettysburg's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Northern York has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Last Friday, things could have been worse for Gettysburg, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 37-20 loss to Greencastle-Antrim.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Brady Heiser, who rushed for ten yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 129 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Northern York suffered a tough 42-16 defeat at the hands of Susquehanna Township on Friday. Northern York was down 42-10 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the loss, Northern York got a solid performance out of Cole Bartram, who rushed for 138 yards and a touchdown.
The losses dropped Gettysburg to 4-4 and Northern York to 2-6.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Gettysburg has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 205.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Northern York struggles in that department as they've been averaging 186.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Gettysburg and Northern York were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, but Gettysburg came up empty-handed after a 24-23 loss. Will Gettysburg have more luck at home instead of on the road?
