C Little Ten recap Sept. 26, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Washington Academy, who took down 65th ranked Maine Central Institute, 36-35.
Johnathan Santiago of the Huskies ran for the longest rushing play in C Little Ten this season against the Raiders last week. Santiago's team lost to Washington Academy as he sprinted for 89 yards on the play and finished with 290 in all.
Tom Bertrand's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Patrick Noonan threw for 60 yards and Mitchell Halley had 31 yards receiving. Tony Trask helped Maine Central Institute's passing attack out by catching one ball for 23 yards.
Bucksport's Matthew Stewart and Josh Gray have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Stewart has thrown for 267 yards this season, while Gray, a 5-foot-5 receiver, has 11 catches for 149 yards. The Huskies' Santiago leads the league in rushing yards with 380.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Foxcroft and Orono. The Ponies comes into the matchup ranked 24th in the state, while the Riots ranks 20th.
Orono extended the longest winning streak in C Little Ten this week by beating Dexter, 50-44. The win marks fourth in a row for the Bob Sinclaire's team.
