The Apollo Hawks posted their closest victory yet this season on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Willow Canyon 70-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Apollo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jordan Moreno led the charge by scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Elijah White, who scored 14 points along with seven assists and five steals.
Willow Canyon's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylon Haman, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Haman is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxsen Williams, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Apollo and bumps their season record up to 13-5. As for Willow Canyon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 15-4.
