The Valley Falls Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. The game between Valley Falls and Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool wasn't particularly close, with Valley Falls falling 46-32. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Valley Falls has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Valley Falls had strong showings from Korie Kirkwood, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds, and Lauren Brown, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 56.3% of Valley Falls' points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool found their leader in underclassman Sami Baum, who scored 19 points. Another player making a difference was Laurel Schwensen, who scored ten points.
Valley Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
Valley Falls will be playing in front of their home fans against Atchison on Friday. Hopefully Atchison focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday. Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool's road trip will continue as they head out to face Jefferson County North at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Jefferson County North will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
