The Harbor Creek Huskies will face off against the General McLane Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harbor Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
Harbor Creek is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Neshannock just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They came up short against the Lancers, falling 12-4.
Kayla Bresee made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Brooklynn Cipalla was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask General McLane). They were the clear victors by a 22-12 margin over Warren on Monday. That's two games straight that the Lancers have won by exactly ten runs.
Kylie Fleek was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Fleek was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Avery Lorah was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Etta Spires, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.
General McLane always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .688. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The victory made it two in a row for General McLane and bumps their season record up to 4-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games. As for Harbor Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4.
General McLane's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Harbor Creek hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .395. It's a different story for General McLane, though, as they've only averaged .243. Will they be able to contain Harbor Creek's hitters?
Harbor Creek got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April against General McLane by a conclusive 8-2 score. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lancers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
