A well-balanced attack led the Northwestern Trojans over the York Cougars in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Everything went Northwestern's way against York as Northwestern made off with a 71-50 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Northwestern has managed all season.
It was another big night for Mason Mitchell, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Jordan, who scored 11 points.
York's loss came despite strong showings from Brenden Lacroix and Jaxon Wilkins-Graham. Lacroix scored 14 points, while Wilkins-Graham scored 12 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilkins-Graham has scored all season.
Northwestern has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season. As for York, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwestern will take on South Pointe at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (South Pointe is ranked 95th, while Northwestern is ranked 75th). As for York, they will play host again and welcome Lancaster, where tip off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
