The Kennedy Eagles lost against the Albany Cougars back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Kennedy received a tough blow as they fell 59-42 to Albany. While losing is never fun, Kennedy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1130th, while Albany is ranked 419th).
When it comes to explaining why Kennedy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jayson Scarbrough. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Martin, who scored nine points.
Kennedy has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Albany, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kennedy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Maria Carrillo at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: James Hillestad and Martin. Albany will be home for the holidays to greet Vallejo at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
