Baseball Recap: Avonworth Has No Trouble Against East Allegheny

Avonworth barely beat East Allegheny the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Antelopes put the hurt on the Wild Cats with a sharp 17-0 victory on Tuesday. The Antelopes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Case Latore, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Declan Ehrin, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI.

Avonworth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Avonworth's win bumped their record up to 11-2-1. As for East Allegheny, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Avonworth will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wild Cats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
