II Section VI recap October 1, 2013
Westwood took down North 67-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Kane Tieman threw for 213 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 56 yards in the win.
The Warriors led II Section VI in scoring this week by notching 67 points on the Mustangs. Tieman ran for 56 yards during the win.
Tieman was a passing and rushing force as Westwood topped North. Tieman's favorite target this week was Jackson Ward, who caught 3 passes for 92 yards.
Russell Corriveau threw for 206 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 17-27 with 3 interceptions.
Riley Ing was a key player and the best on defense this week as Poston Butte fell to Mountain View. The 5-foot-9 defensive back.
Corriveau and Brandon Hatfield gave the Broncos a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Teammate Zaq Smith added to the ground attack by rushing for 32 yards.
Marcos de Niza's Joshua Eckley and N'Keal Harry have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Eckley has thrown for 1,106 yards this season, while Harry, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 12 catches for 339 yards. Poston Butte's Hatfield leads the league in rushing yards with 787.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Westwood takes on second place Mesquite. Last week, Spencer Stowers' team beat Bob Chappelle's team, while Mesquite defeated Corona del Sol.
One of II Section VI's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Padres and Campo Verde face off next week.
The Warriors made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,040 from 5,182. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 67-13 victory over the Mustangs last week.
