Baseball Recap: Rowe Extends Winning Streak to Four

Rowe had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They never let the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial Wolverines get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Matthew Garza made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Isais Ledezma was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Alex Leon was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Rowe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matches.

Rowe's record now sits at 20-8. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season.

Rowe will be playing in front of their home fans against Weslaco East at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Warriors 2.1, the Wildcats 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
