Baker County and Bradford are an even 4-4 against one another since September of 2014, but not for long. The Baker County Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Bradford Tornadoes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Baker County comes in on seven and Bradford on 12.
Baker County had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They strolled past Yulee with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 32-14.
Baker County can attribute much of their success to Benny Lewis, who rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns. Seth Chestnut got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Baker County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Case Foster was especially locked on to Yulee's QB and sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Bradford stacked a ninth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Eastside 28-7. Given Bradford's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Eastside is ranked 174th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Baker County pushed their record up to 8-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Bradford, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.
Baker County came up short against Bradford in their previous matchup back in August, falling 12-0. Can Baker County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
