The Lakewood Leopards will be playing in front of their home fans against the Perquimans Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lakewood walked away with it. They blew past Northwest Halifax, posting a 60-16 victory at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lakewood.
Lakewood's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Nakai Owens, who rushed for 83 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries, and also caught a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Carr, who rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.
Meanwhile, Perquimans took their match at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 40-6 victory over East Columbus.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Perquimans to victory, but perhaps none more so than Braylon Knapp, who threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Benjamin Brown, who picked up 141 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Lakewood has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 9-2 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Jones and 1-10 Northwest Halifax (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31.3% over those games). As for Perquimans, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
