The Rio Grande Ravens fell victim to the Valley Vikings''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Vikings, falling 55-0. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Rio Grande in their matchups with Valley: they've now lost seven in a row.
Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Charles Lopez-Burton led the charge by rushing for 196 yards and five touchdowns on only 13 carries. Lopez-Burton hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Tazhe Wilson was another key contributor, rushing for 106 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
Rio Grande's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Valley, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Rio Grande does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Valley will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Manzano at 1:00 p.m. Manzano is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
