Northside Christian is 2-8 against Clearwater Central Catholic since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Northside Christian Mustangs will head out on the road to challenge the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Northside Christian had no problem doing just that on Monday. They breezed by the Chargers at home to the tune of 59-8.
Northside Christian relied on the efforts of Rilee Knight, who scored 16 points, and Sydney White, who scored 18 points. Ava Somers was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Meanwhile, Clearwater Central Catholic made easy work of Osceola on Thursday and carried off a 48-25 win. Given Clearwater Central Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Osceola is ranked 532nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northside Christian's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.
Northside Christian came up short against Clearwater Central Catholic in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 32-27. Can Northside Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
