There's no place like home for the Southampton Academy Raiders, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past Amelia Academy, posting a 63-36 win at home. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Southampton Academy also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Southampton Academy found their leader in underclassman G Applewhite, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. Applewhite hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 17 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of J Holland, who scored eight points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Amelia Academy lost on Wednesday, one person who can't be blamed is Kyle Anderson. Despite the final result, he scored 26 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Anderson has scored all season. Jacob Barbour was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Southampton Academy's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11. As for Amelia Academy, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Southampton Academy will be playing at home against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tidewater Academy has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15. As for Amelia Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brunswick Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully the Patriots like a good challenge.
