The West Washington Senators fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Springs Valley Blackhawks on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blackhawks by a score of 60-58. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Washington in their matchups with Springs Valley: they've now lost four in a row.
Among those leading the charge was Mavric Land, who scored 19 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Deion Edwards, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
West Washington has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Springs Valley, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Washington won't have much time to rest: their next game is against South Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. South Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully West Washington likes a good challenge. Springs Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Austin at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Indiana (Austin is ranked 261st, while Springs Valley is ranked 254th).
