Softball Recap: Black River Wins Going Away Against Smithville

Black River won the last time they faced Smithville and things went their way on Saturday too. The Pirates blew past the Smithies 12-2. With that victory, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 6.9 runs per game.

Mia Rosales was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Madelyn Stief, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Black River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Black River and bumps their season record up to 3-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Smithville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Black River beat the Smithies by a score of 14-4 later that day.
