The Fishers Tigers are taking a road trip to take on the Brownsburg Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fishers has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Brownsburg will come in with three straight victories.
Franklin Central hit Fishers with a eight-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers took a 16-11 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Flashes.
Kennedy Shockley and Adrianne Cook stepped up to the plate in a big way. Shockley went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Cook went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Azstryd Alexander was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Brownsburg faced Franklin Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Flashes by a score of 7-4.
Etta Schroering spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on four hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ag (Ava) Pogue, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Neal, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Brownsburg pushed their record up to 15-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Fishers, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-10.
Fishers took their win against Brownsburg in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 11-5 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
