If the Roswell Hornets were feeling good off their 59-20 takedown of the Riverdale Raiders last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Roswell ended up on the wrong side of a rough 53-33 walloping at the hands of Creekview on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Roswell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 356th, while Creekview is ranked 83rd).
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Neveah Beam, who scored ten points. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Gonda, who scored 13 points.
Roswell struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Creekview pulled down 11 offensive rebounds.
Leading Creekview to victory were Kailyn Hamby and Ashlynn Bleisath. Hamby scored 12 points along with six steals and three blocks, while Bleisath dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Lili Beal was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Roswell has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Creekview, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.
Roswell will be playing in front of their home fans against Blessed Trinity at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Creekview won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Woodstock at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd.
