The Laurens Raiders fell victim to the Northwestern Trojans''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Trojans 57-0. Having soared to a lofty 34 points in the game before, Laurens couldn't push the score so high this time.
Northwestern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Zilon Arnold, who rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Finley Polk was another key contributor, throwing for 124 yards and four touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes.
Another reason for the win was Northwestern's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. Leading the way was Jayce Joseph and his two sacks.
Laurens' defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Northwestern, the win was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Laurens does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Northwestern will take on Greenwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Greenwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Northwestern is ranked first).
