The Wilmington Greyhounds will square off against the Mohawk Area Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Wilmington's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
On Tuesday, Wilmington made easy work of Slippery Rock and carried off a 12-2 win. Fans of the Greyhounds have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Ava Williamson and Skylar Leishman made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Williamson tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Leishman pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Williamson gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in March of 2024. At bat, Williamson scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Leishman scored a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Wilmington let Avery Harlan and Mya Jewell run wild. Harlan went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple, while Jewell went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three hits gave Jewell a new career-high.
Wilmington lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Mohawk Area didn't have quite enough to beat Laurel on Monday and fell 11-9. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.
Lydia Cole made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Alivia Hare, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Mohawk Area's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Wilmington, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wilmington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mohawk Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
