Los Alamos has gone 9-1 against Moriarty recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Hilltoppers will be playing at home against the Pintos at 3:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Last Wednesday, Los Alamos got the win against Santa Fe by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Hilltoppers have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Moriarty). They blew past Pojoaque Valley 19-8 on Wednesday. With that win, the Pintos brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Evan Pacheco made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Moriarty let Trey Denomme and Cash Klein run wild. Denomme scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Klein went 3-for-6 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Klein a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Weston Cooley, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.
Moriarty was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .442. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Los Alamos' victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Moriarty, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-7.
Los Alamos took their win against Moriarty in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-0 score. Do the Hilltoppers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pintos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
