Basketball Recap: First Baptist Takes a Loss

First Baptist played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the St. Francis Christian Patriots, falling 70-42. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while the Patriots are ranked 61st).

Despite the defeat, First Baptist saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Charles Kuenster went 7-for-13 en route to 17 points. Those 17 points gave Kuenster a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jared Dudek, who posted seven points and eight boards.

First Baptist has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 10-17 record this season. As for St. Francis Christian, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-1.

First Baptist wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-57 victory against Immanuel Lutheran on the 14th. As for St. Francis Christian, they will head out to challenge Lake Region Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Francis Christian is facing Lake Region Christian at the right time seeing as Lake Region Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
