The Fairfield Falcons and the NorthWood Panthers squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Fairfield Falcons had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 34-32. Fairfield's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
NorthWood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella Branham out in front who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Branham has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Yoder, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Fairfield's loss dropped their record down to 22-4. As for NorthWood, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which somehow isn't as good as their 19-6 record this season.
Fairfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. NorthWood and the Cougars will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Indiana (New Prairie is ranked 86th, while the Panthers are ranked 67th).
