Victoria West had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They snuck past the Fort Bend Kempner Cougars with a 45-39 win. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while the Cougars are ranked 1088th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fort Bend Kempner's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nia McWilliams, who posted 13 points. Those 13 points gave McWilliams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Meghan Lausser, who put up nine points and six rebounds.

Victoria West has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points per game. As for Fort Bend Kempner, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
