Basketball Recap: Charlotte Country Day School Beats Covenant Day for Their Fourth Straight Win

Charlotte Country Day School entered their tilt with Covenant Day on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They strolled past the Covenant Day Lions with points to spare, taking the game 60-43. That's more bragging rights for the Buccaneers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Charlotte Country Day School to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sam Vanderhave, who went 7 for 15 en route to 18 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. That's the most assists Vanderhave has posted since back in November of 2023. Olive Bigham was another key player, going 8 of 17 on her way to 17 points and six assists.

Vanderhave wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Charlotte Country Day School was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Covenant Day only racked up nine assists.

Covenant Day's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Houseton, who went 5 for 9 en route to 13 points and five assists. Another player making a difference was Taryn Van Der Schaaf, who posted eight points.

Charlotte Country Day School has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Covenant Day, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season.

Charlotte Country Day School has already played their next contest, a 76-47 defeat against Cannon on the 24th. As for Covenant Day, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-23 loss against Providence Day on the 24th.
