The Liberty Lions are on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Notre Dame Prep Saints at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Thursday, Liberty came up short against Sunnyslope and fell 69-58. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Liberty in their matchups with Sunnyslope: they've now lost three in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ring Nyeri, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 17 or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Hunter, who scored 18 points.
Liberty struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame Prep can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They blew past Cactus Shadows, posting a 87-56 victory at home. Given Notre Dame Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Cactus Shadows is ranked 53rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Notre Dame Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.
