Basketball Game Preview: Faith Lutheran Crusaders vs. Coronado Cougars

The Faith Lutheran Crusaders will take on the Coronado Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Coronado took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Faith Lutheran, who comes in off a win.

Faith Lutheran took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They took down Desert Pines 55-38. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Crusaders as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Emma Herpin and Kloe Abdalla were among the main playmakers for Faith Lutheran as the former almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards and the latter almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Abdalla a new career-high in boards. Jasmyn Jackson was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Meanwhile, Coronado came up short against Orange Lutheran on Saturday and fell 58-49. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cougars came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 13th in Nevada, while the Lancers are ranked 95th in California).

Faith Lutheran will need focus on slowing down Scarlet Lopez, one of several Coronado players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Mia Marquez, who put up 13 points.

The win got Faith Lutheran back to even at 8-8. As for Coronado, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
