After losing to the Gilmer Buckeyes the last time they met, the Center Roughriders decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Center came out on top against Gilmer by a score of 55-44 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Center.
Center's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lanaijha Johnson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Center's points. Another player making a difference was Journee Smith, who scored 18 points along with four steals.
Center has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Gilmer, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8.
Center will take on Henderson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Henderson is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Gilmer, they will square off against Chapel Hill at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
