Softball Recap: Kirbyville Wins Going Away Against Kountze

It was a proper cat-fight when Kirbyville faced off against Kountze on Saturday. The Kirbyville Wildcats blew past the Kountze Lions 8-0. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by eight runs or more this season.

Jacie Roden looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits she has allowed over her last six matches.

At the plate, Kirbyville's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jules Carrell, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another was Maddie Simmos, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Kirbyville has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. Kountze's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.

Kirbyville has already played their next contest, a 22-0 win against Warren on the 11th. As for Kountze, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 7-2 defeat against Orangefield on the 11th.
