AAA Region 6 recap October 1, 2013
Cedar Grove extended the longest winning streak in AAA Region 6 this week by beating Decatur, 27-3. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Towers scaled the state rankings by moving to 207 from 302 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Titans climbed the ranks as a result of falling to St. Pius X Catholic 45-7.
The Golden Lions' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Joey Connors threw for 42 yards and Jack Pelt had 25 yards receiving. On the ground Dalton Wilson contributed 61 yards.
St. Pius X Catholic's dynamic duo of Connors and Pelt proved tough for Towers to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Blessed Trinity's Conor Davis and Bobby McQuaid have proven to be a lethal combination. Davis has thrown for 187 yards this season, while McQuaid has 7 catches for 153 yards. Terry Googer from Woodward Academy leads the league in rushing with 520 yards.
An important game coming up in AAA Region 6 this week will be when Cedar Grove takes on Ronnie Fleetwood's team. Raymond Bonner's team is in fourth place, while the Titans are in first place.
Towers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,293 from 7,855. The improvement was largely due to a 45-7 victory over the Titans last week.
