Haven has gone a perfect 10-0 against Larned recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Wildcats will face off against the Indians at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Haven has three straight victories, Larned has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Ten must be Haven's lucky number: they beat Chaparral with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Roadrunners with a sharp 10-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Paige O'Neal was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. O'Neal was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Morgan O'Neal and Sierra Yoder did most of the damage at the plate: Morgan went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Yoder went 2-for-4 with four RBI. Jordyn Spencer also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, Larned came up short against Smoky Valley on Tuesday and fell 9-5.
Brooke Simmons was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Eowyn Hedding, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Larned's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Haven, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Haven hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Larned struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Haven got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Larned by a conclusive 15-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
