It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 56-13, which was the final score in Talawanda's tilt against the Firebirds on Saturday. Talawanda was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Fairmont's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaylah Thornton, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 steals. Thornton hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Kenzie Roark was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with four steals.
Talawanda has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Fairmont, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-6.
Talawanda will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on February 10th. As for Fairmont, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Wayne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Wednesday.
